As an openly gay man who’s suffered ridicule his whole life, John strives to make people comfortable with their sexuality by brining issues to the forefront of conversation.
“Last year I released a book revealing my life story. I opened up about the crippling fear that I faced when dealing with my sexuality in the workforce. For so many years I stayed in the closet for fear of not getting that seat at the boardroom table.
Work was like a minefield, avoiding personal conversations at all costs for fear of getting caught. I took this so far that I even made my partner have his own bedroom in case colleagues visited. I told this story because I didn’t feel anyone else has, until now that is.”
John is also in touch with The Trevor Project in the US, a charity that aims to prevent suicide in youths that are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex or questioning.
